A month of Get Ready scholarship: $95

Teenagers are at the highest risk for trafficking. Riverkids’ intensive six-month training programme, Get Ready, is an alternative for teenagers with few choices.

If it’s too late to reintegrate them back into school, the Get Ready programme bridges their lives to vocational training and apprenticeships.

Small classes and creative workshop-style lessons on life and work skills and deeply involved teachers and counselors help these kids get the confidence and basic skills they need for independent lives.

After six months, students are sponsored for further training and apprenticeships with weekly meetings, individual scholarships and further support.

Nine girls graduated in November 2007 from the pilot Get Ready programme. Two are back in high school, three have their own microfinanced business, one has an apprenticeship in a design workshop and three are training for hotel apprenticeships.

Your gift will cover teachers, supplies and support for one teenager for a month of Get Ready scholarship.

Every donation gift is a handwritten letter on Cambodian-themed stationary. The letter explains Riverkids and the impact of the program.
