Kindergarten is crucial for children in the slums who don’t have involved educated parents with books and toys at home. Phnom Penh only has a few private kindergartens and none in or near the slums.

Riverkids’ kindergarten brings child-centered early education right inside the slum. Morning and afternoon classes of twenty prepare the children for grade one and develop their confidence and creativity.

Riverkids also involves parents in the kindergarten classroom and trains teachers in new modern early childhood teaching methods and ideas.
