This curious looking toy is a favourite in Cambodia and the rest of South-East Asia. Chapteh are made from one strong feather drilled into several lightweight plastic disks. We’ve seen them in all colours and homemade versions. This one is sturdy and popular in Phnom Penh, and was made locally.

The game is a bit like hackysack, but because the Chapteh is so light, accuracy and co-ordination are a must.

It is a very active game but requires surprisingly little space. Because the shuttlecock is so light, it can be played relatively safely indoors (just not next to antiques!) Best for classrooms where points can be assigned to whoever manages to hit desks, ceilings, blackboards etc.
